Adam Lowry has signed an amateur tryout agreement with Winnipeg's AHL affiliate in St. John's.
He notched 45 goals and 88 points, with 102 penalty minutes, in 72 games with the Swift Current Broncos of the WHL this past season. He was selected in the third round of the 2011 draft by the Jets.
Kris Letang may return shortly from his broken toe, but coach Dan Bylsma has remained tight-lipped on the offensive defenseman's status.
Letang has skated a few times this week while working his way back from a broken toe and an ongoing groin issue.
Jussi Jokinen will get to play between Chris Kunitz and Pascal Dupuis when he joins the Penguins.
The versatile forward can play on the wing or at center, which probably made him an attractive option for Pittsburgh. Jokinen's arrival will also allow Tyler Kennedy to shift back to the wing. When Sidney Crosby returns it is expected that Jokinen will skate on the fourth line.
Tyler Seguin peppered Ottawa goaltender Robin Lehner with 12 shots in Tuesday's 3-2 victory.
He scored his 12th goal of the season in the contest early in the first period. Seguin has 26 points in 35 games but he's been relatively quiet offensively lately. He has been held scoreless in six of his past eight outings.
Tomas Vokoun got the hook in Tuesday's loss to Buffalo.
He was beaten for four goals on only 13 shots in a 4-1 defeat, which snapped Pittsburgh's 15-game winning streak. Marc-Andre Fleury entered the game in relief for the first time since being injured back on March 26. He blocked all of the 16 shots he faced.
