Drew Sutton - 3B - Tampa Bay Rays

Rays acquired INF-OF Drew Sutton from the Pirates for a player to be named later.

Sutton was traded less than 24 hours ago from the Braves to the Bucs, and is now headed off to Tampa Bay. The 29-year-old switch-hitter owns a .270/.374/.372 batting line in 38 games this year at the Triple-A level. He should see some action at third base with the Rays.

Fernando Rodney - R - Tampa Bay Rays

Fernando Rodney blew his first save of the season in Saturday night's loss to the Red Sox.

Rodney promptly walked Daniel Nava after entering a 2-1 game, then surrendered a walkoff two-run blast to Jarrod Saltalamacchia. The 35-year-old right-hander has been fantastic this season, so much so that a bit of regression had to be expected. He remains a top tier fantasy option at closer.

David Price - S - Tampa Bay Rays

David Price allowed just one run over seven innings Saturday in a no-decision against the Red Sox.

Price did his part, fanning five and containing a dangerous Red Sox lineup. But Fernando Rodney allowed a walkoff home run to Jarrod Saltalamacchia with Tampa Bay clinging to a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the ninth. Price will carry a cool 2.71 ERA into his next scheduled outing against the Orioles.

Brandon Allen - 1B - Tampa Bay Rays

Brandon Allen (quad) is expected to continue his rehab assignment at least through the weekend.

He was eligible to come off the disabled list Friday, but isn't guaranteed a roster spot coming back from injury. Allen, of course, is out of options and would need to clear waivers in order to be sent to the minors.

Alex Cobb - S - Tampa Bay Rays

Alex Cobb yielded two runs -- one earned -- over five innings Friday in a 7-4 win over the Red Sox.

Cobb limited the Red Sox to just three hits while walking two and striking out three. The 24-year-old right-hander is 2-0 since taking Jeff Niemann's spot in the rotation and will carry a 2.25 ERA into next Wednesday's start against the White Sox. He's a fine option in AL-only leagues.

Hideki Matsui - OF - Tampa Bay Rays

Rays manager Joe Maddon said Friday that while Hideki Matsui is close, he's "just not quite ready" for a promotion to the majors.

Matsui was originally expected to join the Rays at some point this week, but he's hitting just .121 (4-for-33) with no homers and a 6/1 K/BB ratio in nine games with Triple-A Durham. It might take him a little while to shake the rust.

Brandon Guyer - OF - Tampa Bay Rays

Brandon Guyer will undergo surgery May 31 to repair a torn labrum in his left (non-throwing) shoulder.

The surgery will keep him out for the rest of the year. The 26-year-old outfielder went 1-for-7 in three games with the Rays this season. Look for him to be moved over to the 60-day disabled list once Hideki Matsui is deemed ready for the big leagues.
