Barton is batting just .143 (3-for-21) in eight games with Oakland this season. He's doubtful to draw any interest on waivers and should return as organizational depth at Triple-A Sacramento.

The A's had been going with Eric Sogard against righties and Rosales against lefties, but Rosales drew the assignment against Shields tonight and came through with the big blast. As poorly as Sogard has hit, the A's will probably go with Rosales regularly for now.

The A's didn't go ahead until the bottom of the eighth, so Parker was denied the win after his best performance so far this season. He struck out five and walked two tonight. After opening up 0-4 with an 8.10 ERA, he's 2-1 with a 4.07 ERA his last four times out.

Cespedes has just four hits and one RBI in his last 10 games. His slump hasn't included many strikeouts -- in fact, he's gone six straight games without one -- but he might be fighting some lingering weakness from his illness earlier this week.

Young was originally expected to be activated following Thursday's rehab game, but it appears that the leg cramping set him back a day. It's not expected to be a major setback, so look for him to return to the A's lineup at some point over the weekend.

Jaso was hit in the leg by a pitch during Wednesday's game and said that it still hurt running to his mailbox. Derek Norris is will continue to handle the catching duties while Jaso is sidelined.

Young, currently sidelined with a quad injury, went 1-for-1 with two walks and a stolen base Thursday in a rehab game with Triple-A Sacramento. There was speculation that he would be activated Friday, but the A's apparently think that he needs at least one more day.
