Rangers will try to shop Nikolai Zherdev

The New York Rangers will probably try and trade Nikolai Zherdev before they have to choose to keep him or release him on Tuesday.
An arbitrator awarded Zherdev a $3.9 million contract, but the New York Rangers can walk away from the contract until Tuesday if they want to. The Rangers have already been attempting to trade Zherdev for months, so a deal seems unlikely at this point. However, there's a chance that with his market value now set, it will be easier to finalize a trade. Zherdev feels he deserves more money and hasn't ruled out the possibility of eventually playing for the KHL.
