Ogilvy primed to upset Tiger at Turnberry

Short game may give Ogilvy an edge, but expect Els, Stricker to contend too

Although he's missed the cut at the British Open each of the past two years, Geoff Ogilvy has the game to escape Turnberry with the win this time around.

Birdie chance
Adam Scott: It's time to jump back on his bandwagon. He's cited a romance with Swiss neighbor and tennis star, Ana Ivanovic, as the catalyst to a resumption of good play. His tie for fourth at the Scottish Open was his first top-20 anywhere since the tie for second at Waialae at the top of the year. If he's cheap in trade leagues, go get him.
Projection: Top 10

Retief Goosen: Considering his recent play – a tie for sixth at Loch Lomond, solo third in Munich, tie for 16th at Bethpage – and his consistently strong play at the British, he's a popular pick this week. And a no-brainer.
Projection: Top 25

David Toms: While his lone top 25 finish in a British Open is a tie for fourth at St. Andrews in 2000, no one can deny his sick 2009, with seven top 10s. Interestingly, none have come in consecutive starts. He missed the cut at the John Deere, sooooooooooo ...
Projection: Top 25

Justin Leonard: He didn't start playing the British until the year after it last visited Turnberry, but it's no secret that the 1997 champ knows how to navigate the links. He's cooled since the Texas Swing, but his experience alone is of more value than most in the field.
Projection: Top 25

Soren Kjeldsen: Kjeldsen is on a super stretch of late, with three top 10s and a tie for 13th in his last four starts.
Projection: Top 25

Eagle putt
Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano: It's been three months since he strung out three straight runner-up finishes, but Fernandez-Castano posted another one at Loch Lomond on Sunday after holding the 54-hole lead. This is a nod to catching lightning in a bottle again. This is his second Open, having finished tied for 48th at Royal Liverpool in 2006.
Projection: Top 25

Hazard
Rory McIlroy: His youth concerns me, that's all.
Projection: 26+

Ross Fisher: In a vacuum, he's an awesome play this week, but Fisher has already avowed to withdraw the moment his pager buzzes with the news that his wife is going into labor. She's due Tuesday of THIS week.
Projection: Top 25/WD

Charles Howell III: The tie for 23rd at the Deere interrupted a stretch during which he missed five of six cuts, but a terrible history on links golf courses is worth waiving on him this week.

Rory Sabbatini: First, the Byron Nelson victory feels like it never happened since he's chased it with a tie for 34th at the Colonial and a pair of MCs. Then you have the fact that he's never had a top-25 finish in seven appearances at the British Open and has missed the cut the last two years. Sure, I know it's a new venue, but he'd have much more success in Milwaukee this week, where President's Cup points are also up for grabs. Sabbatini is currently ninth on the international list.
Projection: MC

Alvaro Quiros: Quiros was the darling of fantasy leagues after winning in Qatar, but in his 14 starts since then he's only placed in the top 10 once: a tie for second at the European Open. He's missed three of his last four cuts and finished in a tie for 42nd in Paris. This will be his first Open. Run in the opposite direction.
