Ricky Rubio, the No. 5 overall draft selection of the Minnesota Timberwolves, has reportedly decided to remain in Spain to play for DKV Joventut.

The Pioneer Press newspaper reported Thursday that, according to Barcelona's El Periodico, the Spanish sensation decided to play out the final two years of his contract rather than move to the NBA.

The Timberwolves, meanwhile, retain Rubio's rights indefinitely. And for insurance, Minnesota has point guard Jonny Flynn, who the Timberwolves drafted with the No. 6 pick.

Before Thursday's news, NBA executives across the league had tried to pry the Rubio, 18, away from Minnesota.
