Roddick rolls into fourth round at Wimbledon
American beats friend Melzer in 4 sets; Murray, Hewitt also advance

WIMBLEDON, England - Andy Roddick has advanced to the fourth round at Wimbledon by defeating friend Jurgen Melzer, 7-6 (2), 7-6 (2), 4-6, 6-3 on Saturday.
Roddick had 33 aces Saturday, the final one on match point. He improved to 9-0 against Melzer.
The No. 6-seeded Roddick is 22-3 in tiebreakers this year, and he improved to 9-0 against Melzer. Roddick’s opponent Monday will be No. 20 Tomas Berdych, who eliminated No. 12 Nikolay Davydenko 6-2, 6-3, 6-2.
American Jesse Levine’s best run at a major event came to an end. The last qualifier in the men’s draw, Levine faced 23 break points and lost to No. 19 Stanislas Wawrinka 5-7, 7-5, 6-3, 6-3.
Wawrinka will next play No. 3 Andy Murray, seeking to become the first British man to win Wimbledon since 1936. He defeated No. 30 Viktor Troicki 6-2, 6-3, 6-4.
Unseeded Lleyton Hewitt, the 2002 champion, reached the fourth round for the sixth year in a row by beating Philipp Petzschner 7-5, 7-6 (3), 6-3.
Earlier, Tommy Haas overcome 11th-seeded Marin Cilic after a five-set match played over two days to reach the fourth round.
The 24th-seeded Haas and Cilic returned to Court 1 Saturday tied at 6-6 in the decider after the match was suspended because of darkness late Friday, and the German finally completed a 7-5, 7-5, 1-6, 6-7 (3), 10-8 win.
Both players had wasted two match points each on Friday, and Haas secured a decisive break in the 17th game before holding serve for the win. Haas, who lost a five-setter at the French Open against Roger Federer, earned the final match point after a 15-stroke rally when Cilic netted. He won after 4 hours, 28 minutes, when the Croat put a backhand long.
No. 29 Igor Andreev won his match that was suspended overnight because of darkness. Andreev beat Andreas Seppi 6-1, 7-6 (5), 4-6, 7-6 (5).
