A member of the New York Mets' television broadcast team has been hospitalized in Pittsburgh with a "possible case of swine flu," according to multiple media reports on Tuesday.
The New York Post reported that the employee might be suffering from swine flu, but Mets assistant GM John Ricco said the unidentified employee, a television producer, is being treated and isolated from the rest of the team and traveling party while it is determined what strain of flu he is suffering from.
The Mets are also dealing with stomach illness to players Carlos Beltran and John Maine, but Ricco said the team is confident that those two are safe from the swine flu.
Beltran was to miss his third straight game on Tuesday, staying at the team hotel while New York played the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday night. He hasn't played since Saturday against Florida.
Maine pitched six shutout innings Sunday but was feeling ill the whole time.
