DENVER - Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony had his right ankle taped at halftime of Monday night’s game against the Lakers and also received fluids to help him deal with a stomach virus.
Denver’s star was struggling in Game 4 of the Western Conference finals. He missed his first 10 shots and had only one field goal and seven points midway through the third quarter.
Early in the second quarter, while jostling with Kobe Bryant, Anthony tweaked the ankle and limped to the bench. He came back in the game seconds later but was running gingerly for the rest of the first half.
Denver entered trailing the series 2-1. Anthony scored 21 points in a 103-97 loss Saturday in Game 3 — snapping a five-game string of scoring 30 or more.
