Pierre Garcon - WR - Washington Redskins

Updating a previous item, Pierre Garcon underwent "minor" labrum surgery in January.

Coach Mike Shanahan initially said Garcon underwent "chest" surgery. The labrum is part of the shoulder. Garcon is reportedly healthy right now, but he isn't participating in team drills at OTAs as a "precaution." Entering his age-27 season, Garcon should be all systems go for training camp.

Pierre Garcon - WR - Washington Redskins

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan revealed that Pierre Garcon recently underwent "chest" surgery.

We're not quite sure what part of the "chest" Garcon had fixed up, but Shanahan says the receiver is "working back quickly" and is at about "90 percent." He's also still dealing with the toe injury that hampered him last season. Garcon recently said that he may not be 100 percent at all in 2013. We're not likely to see him in OTAs, but Garcon will probably take part in training camp.

Michael Crabtree - WR - San Francisco 49ers

Updating a previous item, coach Jim Harbaugh confirmed Michael Crabtree's Achilles' tendon was "completely torn" during Tuesday's OTA practice, and the injury was to Crabtree's right Achilles'.

So this wasn't a partial tear like Terrell Suggs' April 2012 Achilles' injury. For bookkeeping, we like to know which side of Crabtree's body was injured, the full extent of the injury, and all dates associated with his recovery, in order to provide accurate timelines in the future. Crabtree underwent surgery on Wednesday, May 22. Per Harbaugh, the full Achilles' tear occurred when Crabtree was "coming in motion and just planted and started a route, and it felt like someone kicked him in the Achilles'." The 49ers hope to have Crabtree back around Week 12.

Robert Griffin III - QB - Washington Redskins

Robert Griffin III (knee) was throwing passes as the Redskins opened OTAs Thursday.

Griffin worked off to the side with other Redskins rehabbing from surgery. He dropped back, planted his leg and didn't appear to have any trouble moving or throwing. For a player not even five months removed from reconstructive surgery, it's impressive. All the whispers that Griffin is ahead of schedule appear to have merit.

James Casey - TE - Philadelphia Eagles

Eagles TE/H-back James Casey underwent arthroscopic surgery to clean out loose cartilage in his right knee.

Casey, who signed a three-year, $12M contract in March, will miss the rest of spring workouts. He is expected to be ready for training camp. It's a setback for a player trying to learn Chip Kelly's offense and competing for snaps with both Brent Celek and rookie Zach Ertz. Casey was barely on the TE2 radar anyway.

Ryan Williams - RB - Arizona Cardinals

Cardinals RB Ryan Williams said he was "scared all last year to get the ball in my hands."

Williams was coming off a torn patella tendon. "I was trying to protect my leg instead of trying to protect the football," he admitted. "It's a scary sight being a running back and being scared to run the ball. That's something that no running back should feel." Williams averaged a pathetic 2.82 YPC before a season-ending shoulder injury in Week 5. He says the fear is now gone, but he'll have to prove in pads to earn carries. Rashard Mendenhall, Stepfan Taylor and Andre Ellington are all in the mix.

Emmanuel Sanders - WR - Pittsburgh Steelers

Emmanuel Sanders said he is engaged in contract conversations with the Steelers "right now."

Sanders is currently operating on a one-year, $2.5M contract after the Steelers matched a restricted free agent offer sheet from the Patriots. Finally getting a chance to run with the No. 2 wideout job, Sanders may think he can have a breakout season and hit 2014 unrestricted free agency as a hot commodity. It's a dicey negotiation for the Steelers as Sanders has totaled just 94 catches, 1,290 yards and five touchdowns through three NFL seasons. They won't overpay.
