It has been nearly two decades since the football teams of Notre Dame and Miami (Fla.) faced off, but The Miami Herald is reporting that the series could be started up again.
Jack Swarbrick, Notre Dame athletic director, said the Fighting Irish are ''very interested'' in playing Miami again, and the interest is mutual. UM's Kirby Hocutt initiated talks with Swarbrick.
No dates are set.
UM and Notre Dame played annually (1971-1985 and 1987-1990) before the Irish discontinued the series.
