Report: Sens to clean house, name Quinn coach

With Ottawa struggling, Nicholson to also replace Murray as GM

The struggling Ottawa Senators reportedly will replace both their general manager and coach.

According to a report in Le Journal de Montreal on Wednesday, Ottawa owner Eugene Melnyk has made up his mind to replace general manager Bryan Murray with Hockey Canada boss Bob Nicholson and coach Craig Hartsburg with Pat Quinn, who led Canada to gold in the World Junior Championships in Ottawa on Monday.

Quinn, 64, has been out of the NHL for 2 1/2 years but has made no secret of his desire to get another crack at coaching in the league. Nicholson, meanwhile, has a long history overseeing both the men's and women's programs for Hockey Canada.

Ottawa has lost six of seven games on an eight-game road trip that concludes in Boston on Thursday.

The Senators, who named Hartsburg coach last June, have been one of the NHL's most disappointed teams. Ottawa had expected to compete for a playoff spot this season, just two years after reaching the Stanley Cup finals, who were then coached by Murray. Hartsburg replaced Murray, who took the GM reigns for a second time last February when he fired John Paddock. Instead, Ottawa is 13 points behind eight-place Buffalo for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference following Tuesday's games.
