Barry Bonds still wants to play baseball, but hip surgery may delay his return even if a team wants to pick him up, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
A source told the newspaper that Bonds had a hip procedure that wasn't considered major but would keep Bonds from being 100 percent by the time spring training opens. He could fully recover by opening day, however.
Bonds hasn't played since September of 2007, and he is due in court March 2 to face charges of lying under oath and obstruction of justice regarding the use of performance-enhancing drugs.
