A look at what each A.L. team still needs

Nats name Riggleman
Jim Riggleman was officially introduced as the manager of the Washington Nationals.

Minnesota: After coming close on free-agent third baseman Casey Blake, the Twins pulled back into their usual low-key offseason stance.
They are willing to go with the in-house options at second (Alexi Casilla) and third (Brian Buscher and Brendan Harris) and do not seem concerned about the bullpen, though it lost depth with right-hander Pat Neshek undergoing Tommy John surgery.
The organization went into damage-control mode when manager Ron Gardenhire did not list Delmon Young among the top three outfielders. If the Twins make a significant move to help the bullpen, it will involve the enigmatic Young.

Los Angeles: General manager Tony Reagins needs to make a move soon.
The Angels missed out on the top free agents: left-hander CC Sabathia, closer Francisco Rodriguez and first baseman Mark Teixeira. Not keeping Teixeira carries more implications for the Angels than not signing Sabathia.
Even with Teixeira for the final two months last season, the Angels were a mediocre offensive club. They finished ninth or worse in the AL for runs, home runs, on-base percentage and slugging percentage.
The Angels made a half-hearted attempt to keep Rodriguez, who had 62 saves in 69 chances. They are likely to sign free-agent left-hander Brian Fuentes to replace him.

Oakland: A long to-do list remains for general manager Billy Beane.
With only one established starter, right-hander Justin Duchscherer, Beane needs to add at least one veteran arm. Free agents Randy Wolf and Jon Garland are possibilities.
Beane's failed pursuit of free-agent shortstop Rafael Furcal spoke to the club's deep discontent with incumbent Bobby Crosby. The Athletics will continue to look at options there.
A shortstop who can bat leadoff would be ideal. Oakland leadoff hitters last season finished last in the AL for average (.218), on-base percentage (.285) and runs (78).

Seattle: The Mariners have a new leadership team in general manager Jack Zduriencik and manager Don Wakamatsu, both rookies in the roles. Now, the club needs players.
Zduriencik started fortifying the roster with a three-team deal that sent closer J.J. Putz to the New York Mets. The Mariners still have gaping holes at first base and designated hitter.
Third baseman Adrian Beltre could be traded as part of the transitioning of the club. Ace right-hander "King" Felix Hernandez is the only starter who is not available.

Texas: There is a bull market for young catchers, and the Rangers have another to deal in Jarrod Saltalamacchia. The consensus within the organization is that when this club is ready to win, Taylor Teagarden will be the catcher, so why not move Saltalamacchia now?
The Rangers have not added to a pitching staff that had a league-worst 5.37 ERA last season. If Texas does bring in help, it is likely to be a stopgap arm as the club waits for minor leaguers to arrive.
