The Dodgers were put to sleep in a game they had the Phillies napping.

"Winning Game 1 feels good," Madson said. "We're been there and done that now in this series. Now we gotta come out and do it again."

If the Dodgers lose this series, they'll look back at Game 1 as a missed opportunity, one that could have put pressure on the Phillies to win Friday's Game 2. After all, 16 of 18 home teams losing Game 1 of the NLCS never recovered.

The Phillies recovered in Game 1, and now momentum in on their side heading into Game 2's battle of tough righties, Brett Myers for Philly, Chad Billingsley for L.A.

"It feels great, but you can't get too caught up in this," Burrell said. "We've got a lot of work to do."

The Phillies fans will be back to provide inspiration and intimidation.

"We've played the last two weeks in front of a crowd like this," Utley said. "It might have been a little bit louder than before. It definitely was intense out there. It gave us that little extra adrenaline."

The Phillies are hungry for a championship.

Their fans are hungrier.

None of their four major sports teams — the Phillies, Eagles, Flyers and Sixers — have won a championship since 1983. A quarter-century ago, "Beat L.A." chants led to a Phillies' NLCS victory over the Dodgers and the Sixers bested the Lakers for the NBA title.

The "Beat L.A.” chants were back Thursday at Citizens Bank Park.

The Phillies, with some help from their fans, are on their way.
