Going to ride the New Mexico Lobos (-8') over the Wyoming Cowboys in Mountain West Conference action in Las Vegas.

The Lobos are tournament-tested and believe they are as good as any team in the country. Ask anyone from the MWC and they'll tell you they believe their conference is one of the top 5 in the country.

While several college basketball "experts" would argue that fact, it's hard to put a number value on how good this conference is. The Big 10 appears to be the best college hoops conference in the country and the Big East is probably not far behind.

After that it's a crapshoot. The SEC is decent. The Big 12 has a few good teams. The A10 is always solid. The Pac 12, well, I'll leave that one alone. Conference USA? It's hard to figure out which conference would make the top 5, but you can't argue with what the MWC has done.

New Mexico, Colorado State, UNLV, San Diego State... those four teams might all find a way into the Big Dance. New Mexico and Colorado State are in for sure. UNLV will probably make an appearance. San Diego State and Boise State are on the bubble, but most likely in as well.

The Lobos have beaten the Cowboys five straight and eight of 10, including a sweep this year and last. No reason to think the Cowboys will be in tonight's game unless they slow the pace down so much that everyone falls asleep.

I'm taking the Lobos by 13 as your free play of the day.
