ANAHEIM, Calif. - The Anaheim Ducks placed defenseman Mathieu Schneider on waivers Tuesday.

The 39-year-old NHL veteran has until noon EDT Wednesday to be claimed by another team. If he isn’t, Schneider will clear waivers and remain property of the Ducks.

He had 12 goals and 27 assists in 65 games for the Ducks last season. Schneider appeared in all six playoff games, with one goal. He had a plus-or-even rating in 32 consecutive games (plus-17) from Dec. 18-March 5, the longest streak in the league last season.

He has played for seven teams during his 20-year NHL career, including the Los Angeles Kings. Schneider signed a two-year, $11.25 million contract in July 2007, before the Ducks knew for sure that Scott Niedermayer was going to return.
