Nuggets insist they won't trade Carmelo

Star reportedly wanted team to dismiss rumors, or deal him

Carmelo Anthony apparently has got what he wanted: to stay in Denver.

According to ESPN, the Nuggets have told Anthony's agent that the two-time All-Star will not be traded. Earlier reports said that Anthony had requested a meeting with Nuggets officials to discuss recent trade rumors.

Anthony did not wish to be traded, but if the team was fielding offers, he would actually demand to be dealt, according to the report.

"He's not going to be moved," Anthony's agent, Calvin Andrews, said in a telephone interview Sunday with ESPN.com. "It's not happening. We've been given assurances from the owner on down."

Andrews told ESPN Sunday that because of the positive developments, he will not meet with Nuggets management.
