Tim Henman hitting a ball girl (1995)
He would later capture the hearts of the English public, but in 1995 Tim Henman stole the headlines for all the wrong reasons. In a doubles match with Jeremy Bates, Henman took out his frustration on a tennis ball -- and inadvertently on a ball girl who was hit on the head by the slammed ball. Henman and Bates were disqualified from competition, the first players in the Open era to be booted from a tournament in such a way. Henman later made a public apology, giving the ball girl flowers and a kiss.
The United States completed a 5-0 rout of Switzerland in the Davis Cup on Sunday, with 19-year-old Ryan Harrison and John Isner winning closing singles matches.
