Memorable moments at Wimbledon
Billie Jean King vs. Tracy Austin (1982)
At 38-years-old in 1982, Billie Jean King was just one year away from retiring from professional singles play. She wasn't quite ready to call it a career, however, and that showed in her quarterfinal match against Tracy Austin. Austin had defeated King in each of their first five meetings and took the first set at Wimbledon, but King battled back. Taking the next two sets 6-4, 6-2, King became the oldest female semifinalist at Wimbledon since 1920. King credited the win to the maturity she had acquired with age.
