Novak Djokovic vs. Marcos Baghdatis (2007)
For close to five hours in the 2007 Wimbledon quarterfinals, Novak Djokovic and Marcos Baghdatis hustled around the court and gave everything they had to give. Djokovic ignored a painful back, while Baghdatis fought through a shoulder injury, with neither player willing to give up. Like the tennis ball on the long rallies the match featured, momentum went quickly from one player to the other, with both going for winners as opposed to waiting for unforced errors. When the final point had been played and Djokovic had earned a 7-6 (4), 7-6 (9), 6-7 (3), 4-6, 7-5 win, the two embraced at mid-court, each appreciating the effort the other had expended. The match was the fourth longest in Wimbledon history and was five minutes short of the record for the longest ever match to be played at the All England Club on a single day.
