Memorable moments at Wimbledon
Martina Navratilova vs. Chris Evert (1987)
When Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert met in the semifinals at Wimbledon in 1987, they were already old rivals. Navratilova had topped Evert in the semifinals of the French Open that year and had a 39-35 career record against Evert. Navratilova, the top seed, hadn't lost a set in the tournament heading into their bout, but Evert, the No. 3 seed, took the second set and forced a decisive third. In a hard-fought battle, Navratilova prevailed, earning a spot in the finals where she would beat Steffi Graf for the championship.
