Jeff Tarango's temper tantrum (1995)
Outbursts over bad calls are nothing new in tennis, but Jeff Tarango took it up a notch in his 1995 Wimbledon third-round match against Alexander Mronz. Utterly frustrated with umpire Bruno Rebeuh when it appeared a number of close calls were going against him, Tarango finally snapped when Rebeuh called one of his serves out. Tarango exploded, shouting, "That's it. I'm not playing." He berated Rebeuh by saying "You are one of the most corrupt officials in the game, and you cannot get away with this," and demanded that the umpire be removed from the match. When his request was denied, Tarango packed up his things and left the court, defaulting the match. His wife later found Rebeuh and slapped him in the face. Tarango was fined $63,000 and banned for two Grand Slams.
