When Congressional Country Club hosted the U.S. Open in 1964, Ken Venturi emerged victorious. When it was the site of the 1997 U.S. Open, Ernie Els shot a score of 4-under to take the title. He may have a chance to win again in Maryland, as Congressional will host the 2011 U.S. Open. The Club, which boasts a membership waiting list of around 12 years, has both a Blue and a Gold Course, but it is the Blue Course where the tournament will be played.
