In his lengthy golf career, Jack Nicklaus hoisted the U.S. Open trophy four times. Those wins included his first ever at a major in 1962, and the event held special significance for the Golden Bear. Among the many tournament records he still holds or shares are the lowest 72-hole score by an amateur (282) and by a professional (272), lowest 18-hole score (63), most victories (4), most top-five finishes (11), most top-10 finishes (18), most top-25 finishes, most consecutive U.S. Opens started (44), most U.S. Opens completed (35) and most sub-par rounds in a career (37). He played in his final U.S. Open in 2000, missing the cut but receiving a huge ovation from the fans.
