All Phil Mickelson needed on the final hole at Winged Foot Golf Club's West Course was a par, and the 2006 U.S. Open title was likely his. Instead, he shot a double-bogey six. His first shot on the 72nd was so far left it ricocheted off the roof of a hospitality tent. His aggressive second shot wasn't much better, as he aimed for the green and instead hit a tree. Mickelson's third shot was bunker-bound, and his shot at the championship was gone. "I still am in shock that I did that," Mickelson said following the tournament's end. "I just can't believe that I did that. I am such an idiot."
