Prior to the 1995 U.S. Open, Corey Pavin was often called one of the greatest golfers never to win a major. When the final round at Shinnecock Hills was over, however, he had eliminated his name from contention for that dubious distinction. Two late par putts secured his victory; one a seven-foot putt on the 71st hole that broke sharply and found the cup, and one a conservative two-putt on the 72nd hole.
