Memorable moments at the U.S. Open

Limping around the course and grimacing with virtually every shot, Tiger Woods had lost the three-stroke lead he had held through 10 holes in the fourth round of the 2008 U.S. Open. Trailing by one stroke on the 72nd hole, he dug deep with a clutch 12-foot birdie putt to force a playoff with Rocco Mediate. With Woods making a four-foot birdie putt on the last hole of the 18-hole playoff, the two moved on into sudden death. Woods' par on the 91st hole gave him the improbable victory, his third championship at the U.S. Open. He missed the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery.
