APMOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. - Lorena Ochoa’s uncle has died, just days after the top-ranked player withdrew from the Ginn Tribute to be with him in Mexico. Pedro Ochoa was 73.
Ochoa traveled to Guadalajara, Mexico, on Tuesday after withdrawing from the tournament.
“Her uncle, Mr. Pedro Ochoa, brother of her father, Mr. Javier Ochoa, died ... due to an illness he had for a while,” according the LPGA Tour star’s Web site on Friday.
The Web site said Ochoa would return next week for the LPGA Championship, the year’s second major.
