Still ranked No. 1, the Belgian has announced her immediate retirement

After taking time off and missing the Australian Open to deal with the break-up of her marriage, Justine Henin lost her No. 1 ranking. She quickly made up for lost time, however, reaching the semifinals of the Open Gaz de France before winning the Dubai Duty Free Women's Open and the Qatar Total Open. She also regained the No. 1 ranking.
