Still ranked No. 1, the Belgian has announced her immediate retirement

By reaching the finals of the WTA Tour Championships in 2005, Justine Henin guaranteed that she would end the year as the World No. 1. She added to her success by winning the tournament, the first time in her career she would achieve that feat. Henin finished the 2005 season with over $4 million in prize money and as the first woman to win at least one Grand Slam singles title in four straight years since Steffi Graf.
