Don't expect Bulls, Mavs, Knicks hirings today

The Chicago Bulls, Dallas Mavericks and New York Knicks coaching vacancies are likely to go unfilled, at least officially, for another day, according to several reports.
Rick Carlisle and the Mavericks are still working out the details of a contract, and an expected Friday news conference announcing Carlisle's hiring was likely to be delayed, the Dallas Morning News reports.
There are no serious snags in those talks, the newspaper reports, but lawyers are continuing to work on fine points.
The Knicks have given Phoenix Suns coach Mike D'Antoni ballpark figures on a five-year deal they are prepared to offer him, ESPN.com reports. Estimates about how much that five-year deal in New York might be worth fall in the $30 million range, according to the website.
An offer for D'Antoni is expected to come from the Bulls by Sunday, ESPN reports. However, the Chicago Tribune reports that Bulls GM John Paxon remains unsure of D'Antoni, questioning his attention to defense and practice habits.
Paxson wants to interview Celtics assistant Tom Thibodeau and Pistons assistant Michael Curry, though the Tribune says he likely won't get permission from Detroit to talk with Curry.
Citing NBA coaching sources, ESPN.com reported that the Knicks regard D'Antoni as their No. 1 target. The web site reported that New York plans to make a "staggering" financial offer worth
at least $6 million annually.
