Mr. Curran,
I'm feeling pretty grand. I saw exactly what I wanted to see at the Masters and so did millions of other fans. A fresh new face winning. And worthy of winning. You give no dues to Trevor. It's all about lil'Eldrick. It says everything about you as a person and as a "writer", and I use the term very loosely that you would state that all who truly love golf should be grieving because lil' eldrick didn't win the Masters. It is despicable that you would use his son to infer as much. Indeed I and millions of others are feeling pretty grand. But then we're not a hack sportswriter who takes the course of courageous "journalism", read gravy train, of praising lil eldrick. Man you and the rest of the genuflectors are a regular Edward R Murrow. Make no mistake. The dirty (n-word’s genitalia) is deeply embedded in your throat.

Tom,
Isn’t it ridiculous to suggest the 2008 golf season is a wash because the chance for the Grand Slam is gone? I am a huge Tiger fan as are many golf and sports fans, but why the incessant lack of respect for the other golf pros and the sport itself. Either you don’t really understand or care about the sport or you’re just another IDIOT sports writer who has to conjure up a ridiculous notion because you lack the imagination to write a piece that is good and deep.

Tom,
As a long time golf fan and player (36 years old) I found your article regarding The Master’s as an idiot’s guide to golf. People don’t watch golf just to see Tiger Woods take a 12-shot victory tour. Golf fans watch it for the drama of the tournament, the beauty of the course, and the shot-making of the players. It’s great to see an underdog battle the elements to fend off the mighty Tiger. I thought there was plenty of drama as one player after another collapsed on the back nine under treacherous conditions, while one carried himself above the rest. Disappointing article but nonetheless what I’ve come to expect as more sports writer’s tackle writing about the game of golf without the knowledge or experience of actually knowing golf pre-Tiger. In the future, I humbly advise you to stick to the sport or topic you typically cover, which I’m sure you do well, and leave golf for someone else.
Dan Clifton

Mr. Curran,
I guess I can get past how disrespectful it is to write your Master’s article with disappointment that Tiger didn’t win.  Immelman did what few have been able  to do – regardless of how well Tiger was playing – and he deserves his time in the spotlight.  What’s hard to get past, especially as a parent, is how you ended your article.  Implying that his young son was upset because his father won and not Tiger is just not funny and would be a terrible thing for that kid to have to read some day.  And, by the way, in my opinion it is inexcusable to use a young child’s emotions in any way for your own amusement.  It’s like you and Celizic are in competition to see who the bigger jacka$$ is – and I’m getting to the point where I’m thinking of switching away from MSNBC.com. I'm sure with your arrogance that this email will be quite worthless - and I have no doubt that you will convince yourself that I am some crackpot who can't take a joke.  I can only hope that you have received enough feedback on stuff like this that you might think for one second how the stuff you write might effect someone else - especially a young child and his parents.
Bob Smith

Tom,
Good call!!!!!  Just another Tiger Woods sycophant attempting to brainwash the already brainwashed public at-large. We all realize Tiger is the best of this era, but your article is ridiculous and insulting to the other players.Tiger's class did show, I suppose, since he didn't utter many foul words this time. Why don't you write about golf and not Tiger?  I guess you would first have to know something about the game. TIGER LOST!!!  Tiger won't get the Grand Slam this year and the game will be just fine. Why so insulting to the Master champion - Trevor Immelman?
Wade White

Tom,
Please don't link all golf fans into your concensus that we are unhappy with yesterday's events. I was thrilled. I rooted for Immelman all the way, every game I root for Tiger not to win. I don't care if he is already the best golfer of all time. I think he is a rotten role model who can walk up into a galley and threaten to grap somebody by the neck and kill them and when interviewed ESPN he said “I get frustrated.”  Well guess what, a lot of us do, but if any one else would have done that they would have been arrested. He pitches his golf club, his cussing is not hard to read and there are a lot of adoring fans.  Wonder if they will let their daughter watch Daddy in a few years when she sees Daddy's temper. Domination in any sport is boring, I don't care who they are, so I am thrilled he messed up the grand slam, his perfect season a couple of weeks ago, and next time don't think Tiger Woods is what we want to see on the top of the leader board come Sunday. And
I'm not alone in feeling this way.

Tom:
Is it possible that your knowledge of the history of the sport of golf began in  1997?  Let me assure you the sport and the greats that have played it are left in your wake of arrogance.  To assume that all of the golf world can just muddle through another year until we get to start over again with the resident media ‘fave’ is just down right stupid.  My guess is either you have fallen prey to the hype that I hear so many of you sports guys repeat ad nauseum or you simply don’t understand the game and the people who play the events, or even the events themselves.  You’d do well to brush up on your history of golf as well as temper your defeatist diatribe on a sport you view with a video game mentality. Just hit the reset button and get to level nine. It sounds so God awful cheap  of you.  It’s mopes like you that create the bigger than life cartoon characters that are mistaken today for professional athletes. It’s disappointing to read articles such as yours.  The game of golf deserves better.  Your talents and disposition will find their mark with the NASCAR circuit, not the PGA.
Greg Klug

Tom,
Nice article. NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You're an idiot! Do you even play golf? Do you have any idea what everyone (let alone Tiger) was up against yesterday in those conditions?  Those 4 guys who played under par were extremely lucky.  Just because he doesn't have a shot at the grand slam doesn't have any effect on the rest of the season.  If he wins  the last 3 majors that would still be something that only he has done any time in the last 75 years.  When was the last time any besides Tiger has one more than one major in a season?  Do you remember?  Probably not judging by your observations. You're taking his greatness for granted because he didn't win this one when he had a chance, and that is not fair. Writing something like this slamming the best player to ever pick up a club is disgraceful and you should be ashamed of yourself as a professional. Think twice next time you write an article like this about anyone. When was the last time you shot 72 on any course anywhere from any tee box, let alone Sunday at Augusta...A-hole!
Nate Perrizo

Mr. Curran,
Your article reveals exactly why the golf public hate the American Golf media.  You have made every effort to demean the achievements of the champion. It's all about how Tiger lost it, not about how Immelman won it. It makes me want to puke.By the way I see the article is rated .5 by the readers. That's 10 percent and that's about 10 percent more than it's worth. Get a life.
John Hex

Tom,
You write very well. I am sure many were displeased in not seeing Tiger part water once again, but one could not help but find some level of emotion for Trevor in his deserved day of glory. Tiger dominates the sport more so than any of his era. Babe Ruth, Tiger, Michael Jordan were (are) larger than life but over time not larger than the games they played. As a lifelong sports fan, and a fan of Tiger’s, it takes moments of golf mortality to emphasize just how great he is. Hail Trevor. That stylish green jacket goes well with an uber beautiful blonde wife.
