New York Rangers star Jaromir Jagr will meet with the general manager for a Russian Super League team next week, the New York Daily News reported, sparking talk that the Czech forward might leave the NHL.
Jagr plans to talk with Anatoly Bardin, the general manager for the Avangard-Omsk club of the Russian Super League, the newspaper reported. Jagr played for the club during the 2004-05 lockout.
Bardin was scheduled to fly to New York this weekend, the newspaper reported. He's expected to meet with Rangers general manager Glen Sather about a transfer fee for 2007 first-round pick Alexei Cherepanov, the newspaper reported. But Jagr will speak with him, too.
"He can come, it's no problem — we'll see what happens," Jagr said, the Daily News reported. "I'm going to meet with them for sure."
Jagr is due to become an unrestricted free agent July 1, the Daily News reported.
