NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Titans aren’t bothered that Adam “Pacman” Jones openly made a pitch on radio to play for the Dallas Cowboys. After all, the Titans had told the troubled cornerback he could find a new team.
The Cowboys are trying to ensure it happens.
Dallas is reportedly offering a late-round draft pick and a player for the talented cornerback, according to SI.com.
The Titans balked at the inital offer of a late-round pick, but are reportedly warming up to the recent offer.
Jones has two years remaining on a five-year, $30 million deal and the Cowboys reportedly want to re-do that contract before any deal is made.
“We’ve given them permission to look for a new home, and whatever happens after that happens,” coach Jeff Fisher said Thursday, referring to Jones and his agents. “I know he has enjoyed the time that he spent here on the football field. But because of his choices as such off the field, he’s created a situation where he is going to have to look elsewhere.”
Jones appeared on Michael Irvin’s radio show Tuesday and reiterated he wants to play for the Cowboys. Fisher said internal discussions about Jones are confidential.
“When we have something factual to report, we’ll report it,” Fisher said after a news conference announcing the retirement of right guard Benji Olson.
Jones, the Titans’ top draft pick in 2005, has been arrested six times and was hit with a season long suspension.
“Last year when he was suspended by the commissioner in the offseason, we moved on,” Fisher said. “I mean, they’re not issues as far as I’m concerned.”
