Tennessee Titans cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones told an Atlanta radio station that he's ready to play football again and would like to play for the Dallas Cowboys.
Jones was suspended in April 2007 for off-the-field incidents. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in February that he does not plan to reinstate Jones soon and will review the matter again in July, as teams get close to open training camps. Jones' attorney and agent Manny Arora has asked Goodell to consider reinstating Jones before the NFL Draft April 26-27.
"I can't wait, man. It's just a matter of time now," Jones said on the air. "The hard part is over with for the most part. I am just waiting so when the pull the plug I am back on. I am in tip-top shape."
In February Jones entered a best-interest guilty plea on charges of felony obstruction in a Georgia case. He was sentenced to three years probation. That was the last criminal charge that had been pending against Jones.
Jones said that he realized that bad decisions had led to trouble, whereas earlier he always contended that trouble simply found him.
His pride is still intact, though, as evidenced by his statements about how hard sitting out the season was. "I thought I was going to get back in eight games and then 10 games and then you sit out the whole year," Jones said. "It is hard watching the whole season go by when you know that you are better than 90 percent of the people that's out there."
