Favre done ... or not? |
Brett Favre was on the receiving end of the most violent hit in NFL History. He was blindsided (actually ran sideways into) by Regan Upshaw of the Raider which knocked Brett completely off of his feet. In the same motion, Regan piled drived Brett into the ground. Everyone suspected broken ribs or a concussion. Much to Regan's surprise, Brett got right up and started cheering Regan, proving that he was impossible to hurt nor intimidate.... Although he was arguably the best QB of our time, I'm glad he's gone.

The Greatest Ever ? No. One of the best ? Maybe. One of the best competeters ever ? Yes. If there was time on the clock, Bret thought they could win. That is what made him great.

He played the game with zest and had the ability to forget the past errors, and to continue to play at a high level. The only other player in sports that has the ability is Tiger Woods. The great things he did for others that was never mention IE Helping the children with disabilty, ETC.

I can't believe how sad I feel about Favre retiring. I love what he did for football and for the Packers. He had tons of charisma and enthusiasm, and there is no one else like him.

This is from an old diehard Giants fan. Brett Farve 1st and John Elway 2nd are the greatest QB's ever!!!!!!!

I have been a Packer-Backer since the 1960's. I watched Bart Starr, Zeke Bratkowski, Don Majkowski and many, many others, but Brett, you have been the most fun to watch, most frustrating when throwing interceptions, AND the most awesome Packer Quarterback of all time. I know you will be in the Hall of Fame one day soon!!!! Best wishes and Cheeseheads forever!
Susan Wry, Clinton, Tenn.
He is the greatest gun-slinger ever to play in the NFL. No one can create plays as Favre could. His arm strength and quick mind made him one of the best ever.
— Robbie Morrison, Carlsbad, N.M.
I am a Johnny U fan and a Bert Jones fan. But when I think of great quarterbacks I have to include Terry Bradshaw and Brett Favre. Something about Terry and Brett, you had to beat them to beat their teams. And that was never easy.

It was the last game played at Milwaukee County Stadium in 1994. The Packers needed a victory against the Atlanta Falcons to get into the playoffs. The last play of the game was classic Farvre. The Packers had driven to around the four or five yard line and needed a touchdown to win. Favre took the snap on what looked like a pass play, but instead ran outside toward the left corner of the end zone . On the two yard line he dove for the goaline and got hit as he crossed it.The play was all improvised. Had he not made it, the Packers had no time left for another play and would have lost the game and their chance for a playoff berth. It was that kind of reckless courage that typified Favre's play. And, even more appropriate, it was the last football play at County Stadium.
