He was just an ordinary guy who did extraordinary things. We could all identify with him. Every week he illustrated how hard work, perseverance and a great attitude can conquer all. He was a great role model for our children. As a Wisconsin native I have unfortunately moved away, but he made me proud to be a life-time Packer fan. I will always miss my friends, the Packers, and Brett but I will not miss the cold weather this time of the year!
Bill, Louisville, Ky.

When my alarm went off this morning, I didn't think that today would be THAT DAY. I knew it would come. I mean, I knew that one day Brett Favre would say, "Enough!" and we'd all feel sad. Sadness can't even come close to what I'm feeling. It's more of a my-dog-just-got-run-over feeling. I bet I'm not alone. I can hear the phones ringing off the hook at the mental health hotlines all over Wisconsin. I know, because I can't get through.
— Mel Miskimen, Milwaukee, Wisc.

I will always remember the Monday night game right after his father died as one of the best preformances ever by a quarterback.
Jack Petry, San Antonio

Brett Favre is the top three best quarterbacks I have ever witness from his rookie year to his final season in my opinion. The guy was mentally & solid tough, good attitude, and loyal to his team. Big Kudos on his great NFL career. It was an honor to watch him play and he defined hard work.
Ron K, San Diego, Calif.

Brett, Thank you for the memories. Good Luck in everything.
Tom Halpin, Troy, N.Y.

He looks good in Wrangler jeans!

Brett Favre is a hero of mine. My dad got me watching him when I was in pre-school. I'm super proud of him for all that he has done for the Packers. I'll never forget his victory in Super Bowl XXXI. I will really miss him and I wish him all the luck in the world.
— Brendan Conron, Richmond, Va.

One of the greatest ever to play the game, he will be missed. As a role model for kids and adults alike there is none better. Here's hoping he stays involved in football somehow so we still get to see and hear him.
— Mike Courter, Chesapeake Beach, Mary.

My memory will be him losing to the Bears twice this year and any time he got sacked, knocked down or threw an interception. Other than that, I hope he enjoys his retirement and may Green Bay suffer many years of embarassment at the hand of the Monsters of the Midway. Good riddance!
— Ryan, Chicago

I have an 8 year old son. This past season I encouraged him to set with me and watch Brett Favre. I explained to my son we will never see another Brett Favre. I explained that Brett Favre was everything that a professional athlete should be. He played the game for the game not for the fame the game brought to him. Brett Favre I believe would of had the same passion, competativeness, and desire to enjoy the game for the game had he been playing the game on the back 40 of a ranch in Wyoming as he did each Sunday on FOX. Farve had fun and he made the game fun to watch. In an era where most professional athletes have lost perspective Mr. Favre always understood that the integrity of the game is bigger and more important than its stars.
— Don Drum, Meridian, Idaho

He also had a great sense of humor. I caught a clip of a game where he was "mic'd", and it was one of the funniest things I have ever seen. He is a guy you would want for one of your best friends. Down to earth and just damn funny. Enjoy it All Brett!! (this is from a Vikes Fan).
— BTJ, Scottsdale, Ariz.

I always admired Brett Favre. I'm not a Green Bay fan but would alway watch Green Bay play so that I could witness one of the greatest quarterbacks that ever played the game. He will be missed.
Steve DeCubellis, Martinsville, Va.

Brett is the reason I watch football. It's not just because he's a hot, studly guy; he brought so much excitement to the game. He's super-talented, not super-egoed. He doesn't give a lot of excuses or blame when he has a bad day, unlike the other whiney, no-talent players. He has fun, and it shows. He should; it's a "game". I will miss his presence in the sport.
Gayle O'Grady, Wilmington, Del.

Favre's TD pass to Antonio Freeman to open Green Bay's scoring vs. Denver in the San Diego Super Bowl was the sickest play I've ever seen. That ball came down out of the heavens at such a verticle angle that only Freeman at the back of the end zone had a chance. Favre may not have been the best of all time, but there is no other QB I would have rather had. He brought excitement to another level.
— Mike Trecker, Aspen, Colo.

I had the pleasure of seeing Brett play many times against my Buccaneers. I always hoped the Packers would lose the game, but I was very aware that I was watching perhaps the game's finest quarterback. Thanks, Brett.
— Andy Patten, Tampa, Fla.

After the huddle, I love the way he came up to the line with a SMILE on his face, saying "I love this game".
— Bill Miller, Traverse, City, Mich.

I am a Bucs fan, but Brett Favre is my second team, not Green Bay-just Brett. You were a formidable opponent. There was no comfort zone for the other team with you on the field. Always fun watching you. Lots of Tampa fans feel the same way. You will be greatly missed. I hope this next phase in your life is wonderful, you've earned it!
Donna, Tampa, Fla.

In a sport filled with free-agent babies, Brett Favre stood out as the opposite: a hometown superhero to the end. They should hang a green cape next to his jersey. He made football fun to watch.
Chris Kennedy, Lancaster, Penn.
