IRVING, Texas - The Dallas Cowboys are heading to California for one more training camp.
Because of a scheduling conflict at the Alamodome in San Antonio, the Cowboys announced Friday that they would conduct camp this summer in Oxnard, Calif., where they previously trained from 2004-06.
The Cowboys returned camp to the Alamodome last year after agreeing to a five-year deal with San Antonio through 2011. But team officials knew at the time about the church convention already scheduled this summer for the Alamodome, where they also held camp in 2002-03.
“We explored all of the options for the upcoming season and determined that Oxnard was a very good solution,” Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones said. “San Antonio remains the long term home to Dallas Cowboys training camp.”
The Cowboys, 13-3 last season before losing at home to the New York Giants in the playoffs, will report to camp in Oxnard between July 21-25.
