All that being stated, not many of the teams that tried to improve themselves ever make mention of the San Antonio Spurs. The only reason for any team to desperately upgrade their roster would be to ultimately beat the Spurs, but no player or general manager will admit it. San Antonio is the only dynasty left in professional team sports, but they get little to no respect from their peers or the media. There has been more chatter about the balance of power in the Western Conference instead of discussions on why each team needed to upgrade their roster in order to knock off the defending NBA champions. This is how Greg Popovich motivates his team come playoff time and he usually gets his players to believe that it is “us against the world”.
The addition of Kurt Thomas to the Spurs' lineup will now give them another big man who is unselfish and can also bury an outside jumper with a game on the line. As long as point guard Tony Parker is rested and peaking when the playoffs begin, San Antonio should still be the favorite to win their fifth NBA tile in the last 10 years.
It was not a surprise to me that the New England Patriots didn’t place their franchise tag on wide receiver Randy Moss. Moss would be a fool to test free agency after scoring 23 touchdowns in 2007 and playing in the Super Bowl. He found the perfect fit for his talents in New England and should only continue to dominate the league if he continues to run routes for Tom Brady.
I enjoyed interacting with NFL fans from other franchises who want Moss to play for their team. I took calls from Tampa Bay from crazed fans who want Moss to work along side Jon Gruden and his extensive playbook. A few San Diego Charger fans reminded me that their team had plenty of room under the salary cap to fit Moss into their plans for next season if he wanted to live in their laid-back beach community. Jacksonville could also be a nice fit for Moss considering the fact that the Jaguars are playoff tested and could afford to pay him more than what New England has available. Let’s not forget that Washington Redskin’s owner Daniel Snyder loves to go shopping each off-season and could use a new weapon for Jim Zorn’s new offense.
A move by Moss to a new team would send shockwaves throughout the NFL and would only make Boston fans lose more sleep after losing to Eli Manning and the New York Giants in Super Bowl XXXXII.
