Editor's note: On Wednesday, Feb. 6, HBO pulled the plug on "Inside the NFL," sparking John Walters' sentimental side. To pay tribute to the craziness that marked the sports world in the '70s, he compiled a list of 74 seminal moments. To read Part I of the list, click here.

37. Franz Klammer's downhill run (1976)
The most electrifying 1:45.73 in Winter Olympic history, as Austria's own skied on the precipice of disaster to claim the gold medal in Innsbruck.
38. Follicle Jenner-ation (1976)
Bruce Jenner. Dorothy Hamill. They were more than just summer and winter Olympic gold medallists and All-American sex symbols. They were hairstyles. If your 5th grade homeroom did not have at least three girls with a Hamill 'do and two boys with a bowl cut, then you were probably living in East Germany.
39. "Gonna Fly Now" (1976)
How many people, to this day, visit the Philadelphia Art Museum without having the urge to run up its steps and raise their arms in victory?
40. Battle of the Network Stars (1976)
How come the camera always seemed to find Adrienne Barbeau during the running events? And was Robert Conrad, ABC's captain in the original installment, the spiritual forebear of Bill Belichick?
41. The Bird (1976)
Mark Fidrych spoke to the baseball, groomed the mound as if it were his victory garden (it was) and, oh yeah, went 19-9 with an MLB-best 2.34 ERA as a rookie. For one spectacular season, the Bird landed at the intersection of goofiness and greatness.
42. Chico's Bail Bonds (1976)
After a humiliating loss, Tanner Boyle gets into a fight ... with the entire 7th grade. The Bad News Bears may be the only kids sports film that never once condescended to its audience.
43. "Ball Four" (1976)
Major League pitcher-turned-tell-all-author Jim Bouton becomes a sitcom star, playing himself in a half-hour series adapted from the tell-all tome.
44. 44 (1978)
Pete Rose, a.k.a. "Charlie Hustle," challenges Joe DiMaggio's 56-game hit streak record in the summer of '78.
45. Streaking
Ironic that streaking was a fad in the Seventies, since so many streaks ended. In 1971 the Harlem Globetrotters lost to the New Jersey Reds, 100-99, snapping an alleged 2,496-game win streak. The following year in Munich the USA men's basketball team "lost" the gold medal game to the U.S.S.R., its first blemish after 63 straight victories in Olympic competition. Two years later UCLA's NCAA-record 88-game win streak ended in South Bend, 71-70, after Notre Dame scored the game's final 12 points.
46. The Malachi Crunch (1976)
The Malachi brothers, Rocco and the Count, use their trademark maneuver to get all up in Pinky Tuscadero's grill at a demolition derby during this auto-erotic story arc from "Happy Days."
47. The Harlem Globetrotters play Attica prison (1976)
They were a captive audience.
