TEMPE, Ariz. - The New York Giants have a bigger concern than Plaxico Burress’ mouth. Now, it’s his left knee.

Burress, who earlier this week predicted the Giants would beat New England, missed his second straight Super Bowl practice Thursday because of swelling and soreness in his knee.

“He has an ankle that always has been a problem, but he also has some issues with a knee that off and on in the past has bothered him,” coach Tom Coughlin said. “That’s the thing right now. Between the two of them, that’s why he’s not working. He comes out and tries to go and can’t go.”

Burress loosened up at the start of the nearly two-hour workout and caught some passes. But he walked off the field after a few minutes, leaving the Arizona Cardinals’ practice facility. He received treatment in the training camp.

Earlier in the morning, Burress said he planned to practice. Coughlin is hopeful Burress will work out Friday.

“It’s a matter of how fast the swelling goes down so he can deal with it,” Coughlin said.

Starting left guard Rich Seubert and backup cornerback Kevin Dockery practiced and are expected to be ready for Sunday’s game against the Patriots. Seubert and Dockery practiced on a limited basis on Wednesday.

Dockery has missed four of the past five games because of a hip flexor. Seubert sprained a knee in the NFC title game against Green Bay.

“The energy level has been really high,” Coughlin said. “They were obviously flying around pretty good. I thought the execution was OK. We’re moving toward the game. We’re getting there. We’re sure getting there.”

A machine was used to simulate crowd noise. Neither team is expected to have an overwhelming fan advantage at University of Phoenix Stadium.
