She was to return to the national “Broadway on Ice” tour Wednesday night after taking time off because of breast cancer. The 51-year-old skater left the tour this month for treatment at the Kimmel Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
She will headline the performance in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., said Gerry Porter, a publicist representing “Broadway on Ice.” Olympic gold medalist Brian Boitano and two-time Olympic medalist Nancy Kerrigan filled in during Hamill’s absence.
Hamill was a three-time U.S. champion and won the world title and Olympic gold in 1976. She retired and joined the Ice Capades in 1977.
