Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson won three fights in 2007 and hasn’t lost in almost three years.

Featherweights: Urijah “California Kid” Faber (20-1) fights in a seldom-recognized weight division, but if anyone can bring it to the attention of fans it’s this virtual hurricane of action fighter. Faber is scheduled to meet former UFC lightweight champion Jens Pulver, who has dropped down in weight.

Jens Pulver (22-8-1) recently blitzed Cub Swanson in 35 seconds of the first round at a recent WEC event in Las Vegas. Surprisingly, Pulver won by submission. But when Pulver eventually meets Faber later this year, it pits Pulver’s striking power versus Faber’s ground attack. It could be one of the best fights of the year.

Bantamweights: Del Hawkins (29-9) has the experience to fight upstairs or downstairs. In his last fight he battered a good fighter in Brandon Foxworth, stopping him in the third round. He can punch or kick with equal venom.

Charlie Valencia (9-3) owns a win over Del Hawkins and has beaten Ian McCall recently. He seems better suited for the bantamweight division after losing to featherweight strongman Urijah Faber two years ago.

Boxing champion wins first MMA bout
Elena “Baby Doll” Reid, the IFBA and WIBA flyweight boxing champion of the world, beat Tammie Schneider in Las Vegas and with a second-round technical knockout.

The first round went as expected, with Reid adjusting to a new fighting environment as Schneider kicked and attempted numerous takedowns of the boxing world champion. But Reid could not be tripped up and used her strength effectively to keep the fight standing up.

Reid found her rhythm in the second round as she began to fire pounding kicks to Schneider’s abdomen and also landed volleys of punches. A left to the body buckled Schneider and Reid immediately rained blows. The referee stopped the bout with Reid pummeling her opponent at 2:05 of the second round.

IFL Grand Prix results
Ryan “The Lion” Schultz knocked out formerly undefeated Chris “The Polis Hammer” Horodecki in the lightweight final last Saturday in Uncasville, Conn. It shouldn’t have been too much of a surprise because Schultz had won all three fights in 2007. He’s improved.

The featherweight final was captured by Wagnney Fabiano against L.C. Davis; the welterweight final saw Jay Hieron beat Delson Heleno; the middleweight victor was Matt Horwich and the heavyweight winner was Roy Nelson.
