Elena Reid, who holds the IFBA and WIBA flyweight world boxing titles, will compete in an MMA bout Saturday.

World Grand Prix
It’s the finals of the International Fight League tournament at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. on Saturday.

One of the more anticipated bouts features budding star Chris “Polish Hammer” Horodecki (11-0) in a lightweight finale against Ryan “The Lion” Schultz (17-9-1).

The other bouts featured are heavyweights Antoine Jaoude (8-2) of Brazil testing Roy Nelson (9-2) of Las Vegas; middleweight Matt Horwich (20-9-1) trying Benji Radach’s (17-3) skills; welterweight Delson Heleno (13-3) of Brazil rumbles with Jay Hieron (13-4); and featherweight Wagnney Fabiano (8-1) of Brazil tries to crash Kansas City’s L.C. Davis (9-0) world.

HDNet and Fox Sports World Canada will be showing the fight card live on Saturday at 9:30 Eastern Time.

Fedor for New Year’s Eve
Russia’s Fedor Emelianenko, who recently signed to fight for M-1 Global Net, meets Korea’s Hong-Man Choi in a heavyweight contest near Tokyo. The fight will be shown in the U.S. on HDNet at the bleary-eyed time of 6 a.m. Eastern Time on Monday.

Choi, a K-1 star, stands over seven-feet tall and has pretty good balance. But he’s primarily a standup fighter, and that means that the Russian superstar Emelianenko will immediately take it to the ground.

The question is whether America will get up early enough to watch Emelianenko, who is considered the best MMA fighter in the world?
