A-Rod slaps Yankees organization in the face

Public enemy number one will never be welcomed in Bronx again

New York Yankees
If Rodriguez doesn't resign with the Yankees, he will be considered public enemy number one and will never be welcomed in the Bronx again. This might not be a big deal to you, but consider the fact that the Yankees have the largest global fan base in the history of the sport. These die-hards will try to make his life miserable until he retires and buys his own island to escape their scorn.

Every Yankee fan who booed A-Rod while he wore pinstripes must now look in the mirror and accept part of the blame for running him out of New York. He and his wife were followed by the paparazzi around the clock and were never given any privacy. Even when he grew more comfortable in his role as the best player on his team, the media and millions of fans never gave him room to breathe. The New York newspapers had no problem speculating about his marriage and the personal issues that should have been kept out of the headlines.

A-Rod could be leaving the Yankees to save his volatile marriage. His wife would obviously benefit financially from a high profile divorce and she might be demanding a move out of New York to keep their marriage together. This is pure speculation on my part, but I have seen A-Rod in Las Vegas during an off day and he has no problem sitting next to a beautiful woman with a huge smile on his face. Maybe Mrs. Rodriguez has more say than we think when it comes to where she wants her family to reside throughout the next 10 years and wants the father of her kids to live in a quieter environment than New York City.

Rodriguez told the New York media several times throughout the course of the 2007 season that he wanted to stay and that New York was the best place for him to play, that was all a lie. A-Rod only needed to win one championship with the Yankees to be considered a legend equal to or better than the likes of Ruth, Gerhig, DiMaggio, Mantle or even Derek Jeter.

If A-Rod doesn't resign with the Yankees, he deserves to be considered a great player who couldn't take his game to the next level in the post season. If you thought that he had it tough after striking out in the Bronx in May, wait until he comes back to play the Yankees in an opposing uniform. It will make Barry Bonds and his road games in LA against the Dodgers look like a walk in the park.

Boston Red Sox
Life couldn't get any better for Red Sox fans after winning their second world series in four years while watching the Yankees deal with A-Rod opting out of his contract. The Red Sox are on a roll and understand what adding Rodriguez to their lineup could do as they try to build a dynasty.

They might pass on a potential $300 million deal, but they have the cash to make it happen. They could put him at shortstop, let Mike Lowell, Manny Ramirez and Curt Schilling go and still be the favorite to win the AL pennant for several years to come. John Henry and the rest of the Red Sox senior management team could take this opportunity to sign Rodriguez and distance themselves from the "Evil Empire".
