Oct. 23: Fedor Emelianenko says he's ready to fight Randy Couture, even though the UFC champion recently retired.

“Everybody wants to know why I took so long,” White said. “I wanted to see where Chuck’s head was.”

Silva said he was anxious for his first UFC fight after spending years fighting under Japan’s Pride FC banner.

“It’s an opportunity to get back on top,” Silva said. “I want the belt.”

Liddell, who lost a decision to Keith Jardine last month, said he’s looking to return to form.

“I want to get out there and knock him out,” Liddell said.

The co-main event features UFC welterweight champion Matt Serra against former champion Matt Hughes.

Undefeated light heavyweights Aaron Rosa (10-0) and Jared Hamman (9-0) tangle at the Chumash Casino on Friday. The fight will be aired on Showtime at 11 p.m.

It should be an electric match.

“I love to match my will against my opponent’s,” Rosa said.

Hamman, who coaches football at Redlands University, dislikes judges.

“I never had a fight go to a decision,” Hamman said. “You don’t put anyone in the position to decide it for you.”

In the co-feature Javier “Showtime” Vazquez (11-2) meets JC “Crayola” Pennington (14-3-1) in a fight between 150-pounders.

IFL World Grand Prix
Next week the International Fight League’s World Grand Prix that features the best fighters from five-weight division takes place Nov. 3. It will be shown live on MyNetwork TV at 9 p.m. Eastern Time.

The fights will take place in the Sears Centre near Chicago.
