TEMPE, Arizona - The Arizona Cardinals signed quarterback Tim Hasselbeck on Tuesday, fortifying a position decimated by injuries.

Terms were not disclosed.

The Cardinals (3-3) opened the season with only two quarterbacks on their roster and lost starter Matt Leinart for the season with a broken collarbone suffered during the Week Five win over the St. Louis Rams.

Leinart’s replacement, Kurt Warner, left Sunday’s loss to the Carolina Panthers with an elbow injury. Warner underwent an MRI on Monday and likely will miss at least one week.

Tim Rattay, signed as a free agent last week, replaced Warner against the Panthers and was intercepted three times.

The 6-1, 214-pound Hasselbeck was the inactive third quarterback for the New York Giants last season and was released in the team’s final roster cut on September 1.

Hasselbeck, 29, appeared in seven games — five starts with the Washington Redskins in 2003, completing 95-of-117 passes for 1,002 yards, five touchdowns and seven interceptions.
