Los Angeles Lakers star guard Kobe Bryant denied an Internet rumor that he is close to divorce with his wife Vanessa, Entertainment Tonight reported on its Web site Wednesday.

Bryant has been traveling in Europe with his wife and two daughters, Entertainment Tonight reported.

The Lakers star said he had not planned to respond to the rumors, but decided he should set the record straight that he and Vanessa remain happily married, Entertainment Tonight reported.

Kobe and Vanessa have had troubles before, when Bryant admitted he had committed adultery with a woman in Aspen, Colo., who accused him of sexual assault. That woman later declined to cooperate with authorities, and the charges were withdrawn.
