TORONTO - If you listen to legendary coach Scotty Bowman, he will not be working for the Toronto Maple Leafs after all.

Following a report by the Globe and Mail on Saturday that stated the Maple Leafs offered Bowman the job of team president, the Hall of Famer denied the report in an e-mail to TSN of Canada.

Citing an undisclosed source, the Globe and Mail reported the NHL’s all-time winningest coach was leaning toward accepting the position, despite reportedly having turned down the offer twice in June.

Still an advisor for the Detroit Red Wings, Bowman — who posted a 1,244-584-313 record and won nine Stanley Cup championships as a coach — was to inform the Maple Leafs of his decision within a week, the newspaper reported.
